Trevi Fountain Perhaps the most famous fountain not just in Italy, but the entire world.  A visit to Rome would not be complete without seeing it.  It was completed in the mid 1700s.  Unique LED lighting has been added, so see it at night also. Vittorio Monument This massive marble structure is a site to behold.  Not ancient, but magnificent (completed 1935).  Among other noteworthy things, is has the largest sculpture in Italy and is home for Italy’s tomb of the unknown soldier. City Views  When you visit Rome, you will see the older structures as they fit into the landscape of the newer parts with its modern buildings.  A stroll around the main portions of the city is truly a rewarding day-time walk. Sculptures are everywhere An important part of the Roman architecture definitely includes a multitude of sculptures.  They can be very massive or quite small.  However, the design work and the intricate details are a feast for the eyes. Pantheon Built in the first century A.D., this was originally a temple for the gods.  It is now a church with regular services conducted daily.  The name is actually from a Greek word meaning “all the gods”. Colosseum The most visited attraction in the world and largest amphitheater ever built is in Rome.  Designed to hold up to 80,000 spectators for various events.  While visiting it, take a tour of the structure.  See it from the inside. Arch of Titus Built to honor Titus who was a big part of the conquering of Jerusalem in 70 A.D.  It was constructed in 82 A.D. by his brother, Emperor Domitian.  It is located close to the Colosseum and also the Roman Forum. Arch of Constantine Constructed in honor of the first Roman Emperor to convert to Christianity.  It was completed in the 3rd century and spans the roads entering the ancient city.   It was taken by leaders when coming home in triumph of successes. Roman Style Architecture It is not hard at all to be able to recognize the distinct flavor of the Roman architecture, whether it be ancient or not so ancient.  While touring this great city, you will see what we are talking about. Colosseum This is a view of one of the great wonders of the world from a different angle.  Can you imagine 65-80,000 people gathering together to witness the spectacles that took place here?  And you can see, it truly is colossal!
